In an epic act of stupidity Italian regulators have banned ChatGPT. The reasons were that OpenAI did not respect GDPR laws, in addition to that Italian regulators had privacy concerns over how OpenAI treat their users' private data. At AISTA we believe that access to AI and Machine Learning is a human right, so we fixed the problem, by creating an AI Expert System that allows Italians to access ChatGPT indirectly, going through our systems as a "proxy". Our AI Expert System will respect your privacy and also follows all GDPR regulations, so if Italians wants to access ChatGPT, they can do so safely through our systems. Below is a link and a username/password combination allowing you to access ChatGPT from Italy.

How we are fixing Italy's ChatGPT problems

First of all, we don't track users at all, so unless users are explicitly identifying themselves in their chat prompt, all privacy concerns are automatically taken care of. The end users' browser is never making any requests towards OpenAI, only our servers are doing so, so it wouldn't even be possible for OpenAI to track our users. We also never attach any user data with our requests towards OpenAI, so OpenAI have no means to determine what user is creating the request towards OpenAI. We're also using the same username and password combination for all users of the above expert system, so even if we tracked anything, we would have no idea who was actually using our system.

In addition AISTA is based in Cyprus, and we're therefor prepared to follow all GDPR rules from before. So Italians are very much welcome to use our ChatGPT version knowing their GDPR rights are automatically taken care of. However, to verify that let's ask our ChatGPT what it has to say about following GDPR?

Our ChatGPT has been trained on contemporary data

In addition to following GDPR laws and taking care of users' privacy, our Italian ChatGPT version has also been trained on contemporary information. Specifically information about Italy's move to ban ChatGPT. If you ask it the following question; "Why did Italy ban ChatGPT?" for instance, it will answer as follows.

Italy banned ChatGPT due to alleged privacy violations. The Italian data protection authority accused OpenAI, the U.S. company behind ChatGPT, of lacking a legal basis justifying "the mass collection and storage of personal data ... to 'train' the algorithms" of ChatGPT. The authority also accused OpenAI of processing data inaccurately, failing to check the age of its ChatGPT users, and exposing minors to "absolutely unsuitable answers compared to their degree of development and self-awareness." Additionally, ChatGPT suffered a data breach and exposed users' conversations and payment information.

For the record, we've never had a data brach at AISTA as far as we're aware of, and we don't store payment information in our database, so it wouldn't be possible to experience the above with our systems. As to minors having access to ChatGPT? Well, we think it's a human right to have access to AI tools, and we'd hate to see Italian children being left behind not able to exercise their basic human rights. The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights explicitly states in article 26;

Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit. Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace. Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.

Since ChatGPT is a tool facilitating for childrens' education, not only is it a right to access ChatGPT, but it is in fact also an obligation for Italian legislators to give children access to ChatGPT. If the government of Italy wants their children to safely use ChatGPT through our systems, such that they don't violate Human Rights, we would of course be happy to assist the Italian Government with this. The Government of Italy can use our contact form to start the discussion with us.

If somebody wants to sue the Government of Italy for violating their human rights we would love to setup a ChatGPT-based AI Expert System trained on Italian Law and International Law to assist in these matters. That way it would be ChatGPT that wins the lawsuit. I assume most of my readers can see the Karmic Justice in such a case.
